Game Recap

What a tremendous way to kick off the 2017 Football Season! We are proud of the total team effort on Friday night, where we took a great first step in our 2017 campaign. There are far too many highlights to list them all, but holding a team to zero points takes a lot of effort and execution. Defensively, we may have set an SCA record with 8 Takeaways (5 fumble recoveries and 3 Interceptions)…further Bennett Reimers and Game Captain Jesse Moffett credited the Defense with a TD and Safety. Other Defensive standouts and takeaway kings were Cole Bauer, Tanner Hoffman, Ryan Salmon, Devin McClay, Dom Lorenzi, Reece Uphaus, Banks Madden, Hunter Hancock, Christian Pahnke and Josh Phillips. Special Teams struggled a few times, but Team Captain Jacob Kaites was once again electric, taking a kickoff back 67 yards for a score. Kaites also hauled in 5 receptions and another score. RB Shayne Pahnke is already getting attention for being one of the most talented Running Backs in 2A Conference and he rushed for 179 yards on just 10 carries. Sophmore sensation Chris Popkey was a huge help in both blocking and tough runs where he averaged over 7.8 yards per rush, and added 2 scores. Our Offensive Line will continue to pave holes for our deep stable of running backs and protect first year QB Grant Schreyer. Schreyer completed 7 of 13 passes for 107 yards and a score.
Our fans and the SCA community were outstanding in cheering on and supporting your Eagles. We have a great season ahead of us, and no long distance travel games until the playoffs. We are already under preparations for our next opponent, we travel to face the Knights of Arizona College Prep next Friday night at Anderson JR High School in Chandler. To God Be The Glory!
GO EAGLES!!!
