The SCA Middle School JV Girls Basketball team hosted the Trinity Lutheran Varsity squad on Monday afternoon for a rematch of their March game in the far west. As the crowd settled in to see if the SCA sixth graders could improve on their earlier performance, Coach Ortega exhorted her team to demonstrate the skills they had practiced the week before.

In the first half, the JV team found the going tough and went behind early. Only the fierce defensive play from Abi Lund (#5) and Taylor Lach (#20) kept the Eagles in the game, as the older, larger Trinity players took advantage of their size and experience to get easy buckets.

In the second half, however, the Eagles came into their own behind the fast breaks of Reece Gibson (#14) and Bree Tobin (#31). In addition, the offense began to blossom, including an offensive possession that featured seven successful perimeter passes between Scarlett Campbell (#1), Scarlett Isaacson (#11) and Julia Claus (#15). In the final minutes of the game, Natalia Horan (#35) resumed driving to the basket, and under the leadership of Izzy Thiessen (#4) the Eagles ran a smooth in-bounds play for a basket.
