The Spartans of Leading Edge visited Scottsdale Christian Thursday night for the Eagles home opener and second game of the season.
The Eagles of SCA once again lead by unselfish offense and gritty defense jumped out to a 26-7 lead to end the first quarter. The Eagles were lead in the quarter by junior Jordan Moody who scored 8 points, senior forward Ethan Spry with 7 points and senior point guard Reed Myers with 5 points.
The Eagles held onto the lead in the second quarter while Coach Fredericks sat his starters for most of the quarter and the Eagles went into the locker room with a 35-18 lead.
But the third quarter saw SCA extend their lead and never look back. Spry scored 11 points in the quarter including a fastbreak dunk off a pass from sophomore Matthew Fan. Junior Darius Whitson added 7 points in the quarter and the Eagles entered the final quarter on top 60-26.
Coach Fredericks rested his starters in the fourth while the Eagles ran away with a 72-37 victory.
The Eagles were led by Spry who finished with a double-double, 19 points and 13 rebounds. Moody added 12 points and Myers 7 assists.
Saturday night the Eagles will host the Pima Roughriders at 7:30pm in what is sure to be a great game. Come out and support your Eagles!
