The Fountain Hills Falcons visited the 3-0 Scottsdale Christian Eagles Tuesday night in a 2a vs 3a matchup.
The Eagles jumped out to an early lead that they would never lose. The Falcons struggled to score against the gritty pressure defense of the Eagles, not having a basket until the 4-minute mark in the first quarter. Meanwhile, the Eagles pushed the ball offensively, pressuring the Falcons defense. Junior guard Jordon Moody would connect on 5 first-half three-pointers, many in transition as Fountain Hills struggled against the fast-paced Eagle offense that saw senior guard Reed Myers distribute 6 assists. Senior forward Ethan Spry would leave the game midway through the second quarter with a minor ankle sprain after scoring 8 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. He would not return to the game as Coach Fredericks went deep into his bench and the Eagles closed out the half on top 44-22.
Senior guard Ryan Witte would score 7 points in the third quarter including two three-pointers as the Eagles closed the quarter up 60-31.
The final quarter would see much of the same as Coach Fredericks emptied his bench prior to the end of the third period and the Eagles would coast to a 65-42 victory, upping their record to 4-0 and 1-0 in league play.
The Eagles were lead in scoring by Moody who finished the game with 17 points and Witte who finished with 12 points.
The Eagles will return to the floor next week with two matchups; Tuesday the 11th at Trivium Prep and Wednesday the 12th at Santa Cruz Valley.
